1978 (Shirley Sings The Standards - 4 songs from Shirley Bassey's LP titled, 'Yesterdays')

Dame Shirley Bassey has sung many genres of music over the last 57 years and counting, but 'The Standards' have always been in her back pocket. In this LP in particular, Shirley sings each song lyric with her famously rich musical tone vibrancy, perfect pitch and timbre which, in my opinion, not only captures the essence of an era of innocence gone by but she brings these songs back to life! Of course our forefathers had their issues to deal with like several wars, sex scandals and such. But, the world did seem more innocent because everyone's dirty laundry wasn't publicized for the public to read about. There was something called discretion when it came to public persona.

During this era the public celebrities from the movie and TV industry were called, 'stars' and unlike today, their name on the movie billing seemed to hold more weight than what the movie was actually about or where the movie was filmed. In most cases, movies were filmed on the back lot due to limited budgets which meant the actors had to contribute more acting ability to make their films a success. This clip includes celebrity pictures from the major movie and TV industry during the 1930's - 1960's. In case you don't recognize some I have listed their names on each picture.

Four songs included in this clip:
There! I've Said It Again
Our Love Is Here To Stay
My Melancholy Baby
I've Got You Under My Skin

LYRICS - There I've Said It Again (Partial):
I've said it, what more can I say,
Believe me, there's no other way,
I love you, I will to the end,
There I've said it again.

I try to drum up,
A phrase that will sum up,
All that I feel for you,
But what good are phrases,
The thought that amazes,
Is that you love me,
And it's heavenly.

Forgive me for wanting you so,
But one thing I want you to know,
I've loved you since heaven knows when,
There I've said it again.

LYRICS - Our Love Is Here To Stay:
It's very clear
Our love is here to stay ;
Not for a year
But ever and a day.
The radio and the telephone
And the movies that we know
May just be passing fancies,
And in time may go !
But, oh my dear,
Our love is here to stay.
Together we're
Going a long, long way
In time the Rockies may tumble,
Gibralter may crumble,
They're only made of clay,
But our love is here to stay.

LYRICS - My Melancholy Baby:
Come to me, my melancholy baby
Cuddle up and don'
