In some good news for farmers, the government will soon launch a crop insurance scheme - the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Beema Yojna - to aid the ailing agriculture sector. While Crop insurance schemes have been around since 2008, they have registered a mere 23% cover. The aim is now to increase it to 50% in the next few years.
