NJ Bear Attack Ends In Death Of Rutgers Student

While hiking in the woods with a few friends, 22-year-old Rutgers student Darsh Patel was attacked and killed by a bear.
The incident took place in the Apshawa Reserve in West Milford Township, New Jersey.
Patels friends say they were being followed by a bear, and began to run when Patel was separated from the group. The group called the authorities because they couldnt find Patel, whose body was later discovered by police.
Police say they euthanized the bear on scene after finding it nearby the body of Patel.
Bear attacks in New Jersey are extremely rare, the last death caused by a bear in the Garden State was back in 1852.
