BELGOROD, RUSSIA — Shocking video footage has emerged out of Russia of a doctor killing an elderly hospital patient with a single punch.

The footage, reportedly recorded in the city of Belgorod on December 29, shows 56-year-old Yevgeny Bakhtin receiving treatment from a nurse when a burly looking doctor walks in and asks him, "why did you touch the nurse?"

The doctor, named as Ilya (pronounced Ill-ya) Zelendinov, then grabs him and shoves him into another room before engaging in a scuffle with another man believed to be accompanying the patient.

During the scuffle the elderly patient walks back into view before the doctor turns and floors him with a single punch. He then lays there motionless while the doctor continues to beat the other man.

The nurses, who fled the room during the fight, then return and usher the doctor out through the door.

He returns a few minutes later when they realise there is something wrong with the man, and starts to administer CPR.

Other hospital staff then arrive to help try and revive the man. but to no avail.

An investigative committee from the hospital said the cause of death was head trauma from when the man's head hit the floor.

The doctor, who said he hit the patient after he 'kicked a nurse' has been fired and charged with causing death through negligence, a charge that could see him jailed for up to two years.
