David Cameron has said that it is time to demolish the worst "sink housing estates" and rebuild with government money.
Speaking to the BBC's Andrew Marr Show, the prime minister has said he wants "affordable housing" and there should be a "big shift towards more affordable housing to buy".
A panel to be chaired by Lord Heseltine will report on how investment from bodies like pension funds might be unlocked and draw up a list of sites that could benefit from regeneration.
