El Chapo's dreams of a 'Narcos'-like biopic led to his capture

LOS MOCHIS, MEXICO — The dramatic recapture of Joaquin Guzman, better known as El Chapo, on Friday in the Mexican coastal city of Los Mochis was partially due to the infamous Mexican drug kingpin's attempts to have a biopic made about him, according to a report by The Guardian citing Mexico's attorney general.

Apparently unsatisfied with the infamy he'd already attained, Chapo dreamed of something along the lines of popular Netflix series "Narcos", but about him, rather than Pablo Escobar and reached out to various actors and producers while on the lam.

Had he succeeded, the film would've likely covered his rise from a school dropout who sold oranges in the street to his eventual inclusion in Forbes' billionaire list in 2009. Not to mention his two successful prison escapes.

Too bad for the 57-year-old, though, as his communications with Hollywood-types led authorities straight to him.

Now facing a more than likely extradition to the US, El Chapo's chances at managing a third prison escape and realizing his Hollywood dreams seem pretty darn slim.
