Glorious images of snowy owl in flight captured - by a traffic camera

The incredible shots of the ice-white bird of prey were snapped by a surveillance camera with some impressive skillsThey're more used to snapping images of misbehaving motorists, but one traffic camera was snapping like a nature photographer when it captured these magical shots.

Theses images of an owl in flight have gone viral after they were shared online by Canadian Robert Poëti - the transport minister for Quebec.

With its strong wings spread wide and the backdrop of a snowy Montreal, the images bring together everything we would expect from a National Geographic professional.

Poëti tweeted the photographs on Thursday evening with the message: "Beautiful snowy owl taken by the road network surveillance cameras on the A-40 in western MTL [Montreal]".He later added on Facebook: “An impressive solo was captured in full flight by the surveillance cameras of the road network on highway 40 ... in the west of the island of Montreal.

"Here's a couple of shots of this beautiful snowy owl!”The temperature in Quebec is currently around -3°C, perfect for snowy owls who are native to Arctic regions in North America and Eurasia.

Their wingspans can reach a staggering 150cm.
