BEAVERTON, OREGON — A driver who hurled a string of racist invective at a woman has been fired from his plumbing job after video of the road rage incident went viral.
Joseph Metoxen, 35, was caught on camera as he launched a tirade of anti-Hispanic abuse at the female driver on Tuesday, the Oregonian reported.
Susan Khalaf, an American of Jordanian descent, filmed Metoxen's racist rant and uploaded the clip to Facebook.
Khalaf told Metoxen she was Arab, but he continued using derogatory terms about Mexicans while clapping his hands, the Oregonian reported.
Khalaf said she hoped Metoxen could take a long, hard look at himself.
"I thought maybe he can see what he looks like, saying all these nasty, racial slurs," she told KGW.
The clip went viral within hours, and Metoxen was quickly identified. The boss of Metoxen's plumbing firm fired him, saying it did not tolerate abusive language, the Oregonian reported.
Meanwhile, Metoxen called the Washington County Sheriff's Office to say he feared for his personal safety after the video went viral, the Oregonian reported, quoting spokesman Sergeant Bob Ray.
