A longtime friend and former neighbor of San Bernardino shooter Syed Farook was indicted Thursday on charges of conspiring with him to commit crimes of terrorism in 2011 and 2012.
Enrique Marquez, 24, was also indicted for the unlawful purchase of two assault rifles used in the deadly shooting earlier this month in California, US Attorney for the Central District of California, Eileen Decker, said in a statement.
If convicted, he faces up to 30 years in prison.
Fourteen people died in the mass shooting in San Bernardino, California, on December 2, carried out by Farook and his partner Tashfeen Malik.
