Japan’s prime minister Shinzo Abe says a deal reached with South Korea to end the row over the use of wartime sex slaves marks a new era between the two countries. Apologising on Monday to South Korean ‘comfort women’, as those forced to work in Japanese brothels during the Second World War were known, prime minister Shinzo Abe says: ‘From today, Japan and South Korea will enter into a new era.’
