Cultura Latina: Son Jarocho and Martial Arts

2015-12-19 1

Today our host Mauricio Izquierdo takes us first to the state of Veracruz, home of the traditional Mexican genre, son jarocho. We meet members of the group Caña Dulce, Caña Brava, who tell us that this music is immersed in social issues and prompts reflection. In their group it is the women whose voices carry the message. Then it’s off to Bolivia, where the Chinese influence is felt through martial arts. We visit a school run by kung fu master Huang You, who tries to keep Chinese traditions alive as he teaches a discipline in which the most important thing is never to give up. teleSUR
