Interview of Lindsey Vonn after the Downhill of the Super Combine :) ©ORF

Interviewer: Lindsey is also happy that Lizz Görgl was able get up again and smile after her crash. This is a Downhill which looks a bit unspectacular but even though there are some bad crashes today and yesterday. What’s the reason?
Lindsey: It maybe doesn’t look difficult but it is. There are some good turns but also in the middle oft he curves it’s not easy. I think Lizz was skiing a bit to direct and you also shouldn’t make a mistake because it’s not steep. There are a lot of bumps and when you make a mistake it’s over.
Interviewer: You didn’t make a mistake. It was a amazing run like a cat on velvet paws.
Lindsey: I tried to ski as fast as I could. Because I know my Slalom isn’t great. But tomorrow I could ski a bit better. In the bottom I was a little bit high. But you can’t have a perfect run.
Interviewer: Do you have a plan. How big must be the margin on a good Slalom skier like Michaela Kirchgasser?
Lindsey: I have the hope to be +2.50 Seconds in front of Kirchi. She can ski really good in the Downhill. I saw this at the World Championships in Vail last year. So I hope for this margin but i don’t right now if i’ll make it. But I skied fast fort hat.
Interviewer: Lindsey you didn’t start in the SL in Are. Because you don’t feel strong enough to start or because you wanted to have an extra day to rest for Val d’Isere?
Lindsey: Because of my knee. It’s not so good for my health.for the next three years. I want to ski till the Olympic Games 2018 and I’ve not much cartilage in my knee so Slalom is a bit to dangerous. But I know that I can ski Slalom. But this takes to much energy and i’m to old & my knee is to old.
Interviewer: We are really excited for the Slalom. Thanks Lindsey!
Lindsey: Thanks. Me too!
