Blue Jay knocks over and damages camera during a feeding frenzy! It's my fault - I forgot who I was dealing with and used a shaky training platform. Training the Backyard Blue Jay Family - also known as the "Gang of Eight" to come and eat peanuts in an orderly fashion can be a challenge. After the camera flew I used a heavy piece of wood for a feeding platform and the Jays were much happier and more relaxed - after a number of days my hand will hold the peanuts on the platform and one or two of the bravest and smartest family leaders will start eating out of my hand as my old hand-fed Blue Jay Buddy has passed on to his reward. Blue Jays are the Backyard songbirds with the most raptor/dinosaur-like tendencies as can be seen in these clips from past training efforts: Hand Feeding My Blue Jay Buddy !
