The arrest of Manuel Burga, former head of the Peruvian Soccer Federation and arguably the most hated man in the country, has sparked criticism on why the national team does so poorly in international competitions. Burga has been charged with money laundering, accepting bribes, and electronic fraud as part of the FIFA corruption scandal.
