Roy Lichtensteins 'Pop Art Car' won the hearts of not only the exhibit’s visitors at the Centre Geogres Pompidou, but also those who were present at the 1977 Le Mans where it came in 9th place overall and first place in its category. The long lines that run the length of the car almost looks like the 'speed lines' that are usually drawn on cartoon cars to represent speed and motion, and the oversized dots remind viewers of Lichtensteins’ famous comic painting. 'I wanted to show the direction the car is headed in with the lines I painted“, said the American artist about his design.
