VERSAILLES, KENTUCKY — An Indianapolis man was arrested after he confessed to the fatal stabbing of a young boy in a small Kentucky town.
The Lexington Herald Leader reports that the Tipton Family was asleep in their Versailles, Kentucky home around 4 a.m. on Monday, when 32-year-old Ronald Exantus broke in.
Exantus walked around the house and grabbed a large kitchen knife, before making his way upstairs. He entered a bedroom, where five children were sleeping, and proceeded to stab 6-year-old Logan Tipton in the head.
When Logan's 11-year-old sister woke up and saw the attacker in the room, she threw herself at him and screamed for her father, who rushed into the room and subdued Exantus until police arrived. He was later was charged with murder and first-degree burglary, reports Fox 59.
Logan was stabbed multiple times in the head and died from his wounds. At least two other siblings received minor injuries that did not require hospital treatment.
Authorities are still investigating why Exantus, who worked as a dialysis nurse and lived roughly 175 miles away in Indianapolis, according to WKYT, would target Logan and his family.
