Archaeologists Say Stonehenge May Be 'Second-Hand Monument'

Researchers have confirmed that two distinct quarries in Wales are the source of some of the bluestones that comprise the Stonehenge monument in England—and may have been part of an earlier Welsh monument.

Two quarries in Wales have been determined to be the origin of some of the stones at Stonehenge—about 140 miles away. 
Publishing in the journal Antiquity, archaeologists and geologists note in detail some of what went on at the prehistoric quarries amidst the Preseli hills of Pembrokeshire —including the stunning conclusion that Stonehenge was likely a “second-hand monument.”
