Ghana's battle against deforestation

Ghana has one of the highest rates of deforestation in Africa: the UN estimates around 2% of forest cover is lost every year. There have been nationwide and local efforts to try to reduce tree depletion and prevent the country's arid north from turning into desert.
But as our reporter Katerina Vittozzi found out, a lack of funds has pulled the plug on many of these projects. Meanwhile, for some impoverished communities in those areas, chopping down trees is their only means of survival.
