Eric Kohler, a visual effects producer for films in The Avengers and X-Men franchises, has been missing for more than a week – and his heartbroken parents are convinced foul play is behind his disappearance.

"I know my son would never do this," Sheryi Kohler tearfully told NBC4 Los Angeles. "He had big ambition to work hard and that's what he's been doing and something bad happened."

Kohler's father, Tony, added, "He literally disappeared. It's heartbreaking. It's damn heartbreaking."

The Kohlers also spoke to ABC News about their son's mysterious disappearance, reiterating that they do not believe he would ever just walk away from his responsibilities.

"I am a devastated dad," Tony said. "I want my son back; I want him to come home. I can't find him."
