One of the biggest ever single events of masses of whales dying in one place was recorded in South America when at least 337 sei whales washed up on the shores of Chilean Patagonia. Chilean specialists came out to investigate and gather data on the cause of death, completing the surreal scene as the bright orange and pink bodies of the whales stood out in stark contrast to the surrounding green brush and trees.
