REDLANDS, CALIFORNIA — Authorities secured a search warrant for a home in Redlands, California believed to be linked to one of two suspects in a shooting at San Bernardino's Inland Regional Center on Wednesday.
NBC reports that after the deadly shooting left 14 dead and 17 injured, police responded to a tip that led them to a residence in the Redlands neighborhood, where they encountered the suspects' SUV. A chase ensued, which ended in the male and female suspects, identified as Syed Rizwan Farook and Tashfeen Malik, being killed on East San Bernardino Avenue. A third person seen fleeing the scene was also detained, though it is unsure if he was involved in the shooting, according to ABC.
Around 4 p.m., witnesses reported seeing a police helicopter and officers in tactical gear arrive at the Redlands home believed to be where one of the suspects lived, reports the Los Angeles Times.
After residents were evacuated and the neighborhood cordoned off, officers used a battering ram to break open the door. A SWAT team robot, possibly for bomb disposal, was sent in and a loud bang heard immediately after.
Officers are still investigating the Redlands home, and say the search could go on for hours.
