PSY’s new song “Daddy” — a gender-flipped remake of will.i.am’s “I Got It From My Mama” — is very much not on that list. It features 2NE1 superstar CL, plus the video has PSY dressed up as a child and an old man going through a series of dance moves that might entertain you if you’ve never seen anything on YouTube before. It’s inoffensive, surely, but when that’s the best you can say about a new song… might as well have just tried again. Watch below if you’re a PSY stan.
PSY’s first full album in over three years is accompanied by two new music video releases today, just as hilarious and catchy as one would expect from the South Korean performer. While his follow-up “Gentleman” and “Hangover” videos didn’t gain as much traction as his infamous “Gangnam Style,” this release just might bring him back to the forefront, in all his autotune electro-pop glory.
The first video, “Daddy,” is PSY’s own take on the “dad bod” phenomenon that recently swept the Internet. Labelmate CL sings the lyrics “Where’d you get that body from? I got it from my daddy,” while PSY takes on multiple roles in the video, acting as all three generations of the Park family (PSY’s full Korean name is Jaesang Park).
