On Thursday, a Brazilian court confirmed the freezing of US$78 million from the accounts of Samarco, the operator of an iron ore mine that sparked a major toxic mud environmental disaster earlier this month. Two weeks ago an additional US$18 million was blocked. Samarco rejected a U.N. report detailing the damage caused by the toxic mud spill, which buried seven towns and killed at least 13 residents. teleSUR
