Pas katër muajsh shitje të energjisë që prodhonte në vend, moti i nxehtë ka detyruar edhe korporatën elektro-energjetike shqiptare që të fillojë importin e energjisë. Sipas KESH, prej disa ditësh Shqipëria po importon nga disa vende të Ballkanit, ku pjesën më të madhe të kësaj energjie po e ble kompania e shpërndarjes CEZ. Importi që bën CEZ shkon në 5 milion kilovat ore ne dite, ndërkohë që vetë korporata e merr atë në kuota më të vogla, të cilat mesatarisht nuk e kalojnë nivelin e 3 milionë kilovat orëve në ditë. Dy javët e fundit kanë ulur me rreth 10 metra edhe nivelin në hidrocentralin më të madh të vendit atë të Fierzës. Niveli i ujit në këtë HEC ka shkuar në 288 metra, kuota mesatare, por shumë larg nivelit që Fierza mbajti për disa muaj rresht, i cili në disa ditë arriti dhe maksimumin e lejuar. Nga ana tjetër KESH bën me dije se konsumi i energjisë në Shqipëri është i njëjte me një vit me pare. Ndërsa qytete si Tirana, shpenzojnë energji njësoj si ne dimër, nivele te larta ka edhe ne zonat turistike. Përmirësimi i situatës hidrike në kaskadën e Drinit gjeneroi për KESH 30 milion euro, çka ndihmoi edhe ne rikuperimin e kësaj korporate, e cila ne te shkuarën ne mungese te parave krijoi një zinxhir borxhesh me hidrocentralet e vegjël, te cilëve iu blinte energjinë.
After four months of sale of energy produced in the country, the warm weather has forced the Albanian Energy Corporation to start importing electricity. According to the AEC, for several days Albania is importing from several Balkan countries, where most of this energy is purchased distribution company CEZ.
