Alarmi për sulme terroriste ka rritur gatishmërinë e autoriteteve amerikane. Departamenti i Shtetit ka urdhëruar qytetarët amerikanë dhe stafin jo-emergjent në Jemen, që të largohen menjëherë nga ky vend, si masë sigurie ndaj kërcënimeve terroriste. Kjo masë e Departamentit Amerikan të Shtetit, vjen pas mbylljes së 20 ambasadave dhe konsullatave të dielën në Lindjen e Mesme dhe Afrikën e Veriut. Dyshimet e zyrtarëve të SHBA-ve për sulme terroriste vijnë pas zbulimit të disa bisedave mes kreut të Al-Kaedës, Aiman al Zauahiri dhe liderit të qelizës së organizatës terroriste në Jemen.
