Përgjysmimi i taksave për automjetet ka rritur pagesat e detyrimeve nga qytetaret, por blerjen e makinave te reja. Te dhënat me te fundit nga drejtoria e Përgjithshme flasin për një rënie me 5000 automjete krahasuar me te njëjtën periudhe te një viti me pare. Ne 6 muaj e pare te viti 2013, numri i makinave qe pajisen me targa për here te pare arrin ne 25 mije. Sipas drejtorit te Arben Pinari, kjo renie tregon per nje ngopje qe ka pasur tregu, pas heqjes se doganës se makinave. Por pjese kësaj situate është edhe rënia e fuqisë blerëse te shqiptareve. Ndonëse nuk ka nje statistike te fundit te vjetërsisë se automjeteve qe përdorin shqiptaret, një studim i vitit 2011 tregon se mesatarisht ne vendin tone mosha e makinave arrin ne 12 vjet, ndërkohë qe mesatarja europiane e ka ne 5 vjet. Problem ne këtë ne evidentimin e këtij treguesi është informaliteti si dhe mos çregjistrimi i automjeteve qe nuk përdoren me. Ne Shqipëri numërohen 300 mije automjeteve. Tendenca e shqiptareve për te blere makine lidhet edhe me faktin se Shqipëria ka mangësi ne ofrimin e shërbimit te transportit publik. Edhe transporti urban Brenda qyteteve shpesh nuk është ne parametrat e kërkuar.
