NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a shooting in the city's Upper Ninth Ward that left more than a dozen wounded on Sunday evening.

The Times-Picayune reports that more than 300 people were gathered at Bunny Friend Park in New Orleans for an unauthorized block party and music video shoot.

Witnesses said that at around 6:15 p.m. shots rang out as two groups began firing at each other, causing people to panic and flee.

Officers were already en route to break up the gathering when they heard gunshots. The suspects fled on foot immediately after the shooting. Multiple individuals said they saw a man with a silver machine gun running away from the park.

According to CNN, of the 16 people injured in the shooting, 10 were taken to the hospital by ambulance. Six others arrived in private vehicles. No deaths have been reported, and all wounded victims appear to be in stable condition.
