Te afërm te viktimave, nga kalata zero, ku u nis anija Kateri i Rades, kerkuan serish drejtesi, duke rikthyer ne vemendje denimet minimale me 3 dhe 4 vjet burg per kapitenet e dy anijeve. 16 vjet me pare, 120 persona mes te cileve shume gra e femije, u nisen per nje jete me drejt Italisë me anije. Por mbrëmjen e 28 marsit te vitit 1997, mjeti lundrues ku ata ndodheshin u godit nga anija ushtarake italiane Sibila. Vetem pak persona munden te mbijetonin per te rrëfyer tmerrin e përjetuar. 81 trupa u gjeten gjate kërkimeve disa mujore, ndërsa 24 te tjera rezultojnë ende te zhdukur.
