Pas publikimit ne media te letrës konfidenciale te ambasadës amerikane, qe me tone te ashpra si kurrë me pare i bënte thirrje qeverise shqiptare te lere tonet nacionaliste, Kryetari i LSI Ilir Meta, mban një qëndrim te ndryshëm nga kryeministri Berisha mbi ketë çështje.
Ky qëndrim i Metes përkon edhe me faktin qe dikasteri i diplomacies drejtohet nga forca e tij politike, LSI-ja,aleate ne qeveri. Ndërsa pas publikimit te memos, megjithëse nuk pati asnjë koment nga qeveria, kryeministri Berisha shfrytëzoi seancën e posaçme parlamentare te 5 vjetorit te pavarësisë se Kosovës, për te deklaruar se nacionalizmi shqiptare nuk ngjason me shovinizmin e vendeve përreth, dhe nuk shoqërohet me pretendime territoriale. Ne letrën e ambasadës amerikane i behej thirrje qeverise dhe politikes ne Shqipëri, te linin mënjane deklaratat nacionaliste, si rrezik për stabilitetin ne rajon. Ne te kundërt si kurrë me pare diplomacia amerikane shprehej: mos na Beni t'ju dënojmë publikisht.
Following the publication in the media of confidential letter to the U.S. Embassy, was worded as never before called on the Albanian government to leave nationalist tones, President of LSI Ilir Meta, holds a different view from the Prime Minister Berisha on this issue.
This Meta attitude coincides with the fact that the department of diplomacies run by his political strength, LSI, allied to the government.
