Komisioni i Garancive Statutore ne Partine Socialiste pezulloi nga funksionet si anëtare e disa forumeve, Fatbardha Barjabën, dhe refuzoi kontributin e mëtejshëm ne pozita vullnetare të bashkëshortit të saj, Kosta Barjaba. Ky i fundit drejtonte grupin e punës per programin, për çështjet sociale. Vendimi u mor pas publikimit të lajmit se Fatbardha, Kosta Barjaba dhe vajza e tyre 23 vjeçe u arrestuan në SHBA për vjedhje ne nje qender tregtare. Ndërkohë, kryesia e Akademisë së Shkencave vendosi të ngrijë titullin e Kosta Barjabas si akademik i Asociuar. Përmes një njoftimi për media, Akademia tha se vendimi mbështetet në raportin e policisë amerikane, që e akuzon zotin Barjaba, bashkëshorten dhe vajzën e tij për vjedhje në një qendër tregtare. Akti i Barjabes konsiderohet i papranueshëm, i turpshëm dhe në kundërshtim me moralin akademik. Ndërsa Partia Demokratike e cilësoi nje mashtrim deklaratën e PS, se Kosta Barjaba nuk eshte anëtar i kesaj force politike. Ky nuk është distancim i turpshëm i zotit Rama, u shpreh PD. Demokratet përmendin faktin qe Barjaba ishte në listën e deputetëve të Qarkut të Vlorës në zgjedhjet e vitit 2009, ne logon e PS.

Through a press release, the Academy said the decision is based on the police report that accuses American Mr. Barjaba, his wife and his daughter for stealing in a shopping mall. Barjabes Act is considered unacceptable, shameful and contrary to the academic ethos. While the Democratic Party considered the a PS statement fraud, that Kosta Barjaba is not a member of this political force. This is not distancing shy of Rama, said the PM.
