Banka Botërore ka ripërsëritur shqetësimin për borxhin publik, ne vendet e Ballkanit, e konkretisht për Shqipërinë, i cili sipas këtij institucioni është ne nivele te rrezikshme. Ne një interviste per agjencinë e lajmeve Rojters, koordinatorja e Bankës Botërore për rajonin, Jane Armitage, thotë se Ballkani perëndimor po përballet me recesion, dhe rimëkëmbja do te jete e vështire dhe e ngadalshme vitin 20113. Duke u ndalur tek disa tregues shqetësues, koordinatorja e bankës tha se borxhi ne Mal te Zi, Serbi dhe ne Shqipëri është ne nivele te rrezikshme, sidomos ne Shqipëri i cili ka mbërritur ne kufirin e 60 % te PBB. Por ky tregues sipas saj është rritur shpejt edhe ne Serbi dhe ne Mal te Zi. Parashikimi i bankës për Serbinë, ekonominë me te madhe te rajonit është me pesimist, pasi vendi po lufton për te nxitur rritjen ekonomike, i cila ka rene ne spiralen e reduktimit te deficitit. Pasiguria qe po shoqëron zonën euro, do te beje qe këtë vit Ballkani perëndimore te jete ne recesion thotë ne interviste Armitage. Ne Shqipëri dhe ne vendet e ish Jugosllavisë eksportet kane rene, po ashtu edhe investimet e huaja janë reduktuar për shkak te krizës se borxheve ne zonën Euro, si burimi kryesore i tregtisë për rajonin e Ballkanit. Nga ana tjetër remitancat kane rende ndjeshëm, ndërsa vera e nxehte goditi edhe sektorin e bujqësisë si dhe sistemin hidroenergjetike ne këto vende. Për bankën botërore vetëm Kosova shteti me një ekonomike te vogël, me 1.7 milion banore mund te vijoje te rritet ne saje te nivelit te ulet te integrimit ne tregun evropian. Ne intervistën e saj koordinatorja e bankës thotë se këtë vende duhet te ndjekin rrugën e konsolidimit fiskal, te rriten me ngadalë dhe nuk është e nevojshme qe te kryen investime te mëdha ne infrastrukture.
