E gjithë zona e "Skelës" është blinduar nga forcat e policisë, te cilat nuk kane mundur t'i afrohen atij për 30 minuta pasi Skendaj mbante ne dore një çakmak gati për ta ndezur. Gjate kësaj kohe, 58-vjeçari ka shpërndarë disa foto e dokumente, qe sipas tij, provonin se i biri është vrare. Por sipas policisë, këto deklarata vijnë si pasoje e problemeve psikike qe po kalon Skendaj. Një nga punonjësit e policisë ka shfrytëzuar një moment pakujdesie te te moshuarit dhe i ka dale nga pas, duke shmangur tragjedinë.
