Një dite pas deklaratës se kryeministrit Thaçi ne kuvendin e Kosovës, se Prishtina zyrtare nuk do te lejoje mbajtjen e zgjedhjeve serbe ne veri, ka ardhur reagimi i komandantit te KFOR-it Erhard Drews, i cili ka thënë se situata ne veri sa vjen e tensionohet. Duke folur për mediat vendase, Drews tha se me afrimin e datës se zgjedhjeve serbe, tensioni rritet ne mënyrë progresive. Ai i ka bere thirrje qeverise se Kosovës qe te mos përdorë dhunën dhe mos ndërmarrë asnjë aksion ne veri, pasi për ruajtjen e rendit atje do te merret KFOR-i. Ndërkohë, ministri serb për Kosovën, Goran Bogdanovic, ka deklaruar se ne veri te Mitrovicës janë pare grupe te armatosura shqiptaret qe po nxisin dhune dhe vene ne rrezik sigurinë. Bogdanoviç tha se ka ardhur momenti që ndërkombëtarët të eliminojnë ekstremizmin shqiptar dhe se ky është momenti më i mirë për ta bërë.
