Deri ne ditët e fundit te jetës ai nuk iu nda letërsisë, pasionit me te madh qe kishte. Edhe pse sapo kishte kapërcyer te 90-at Muzafer Xhaxhiun e gjeje te përkushtuar pas shkrimit duke lënë dorëshkrime qe ende nuk e kane njohur dritën e botimit. Studimi i fjalëve te reja te shqipes ishte projekti me te cilin po merrej pak para se te ndahej nga jeta ne moshën 91 vjeçare. Ai lindi ne vitin 1921 ne Gjirokastër, ku vite me vone do te merrte edhe titullin "Qytetar Nderi". Profesor Muzafer Xhaxhiu studioi ne Beograd dhe Moskë duke ju përkushtuar letërsisë klasike botërore. Shkrimet e tij te para datojnë ne vitin 1939. Por profesori ishte aktiv pothuajse ne te gjithë periodiket e asaj kohe me ese, poezi apo përkthimet e tij. Xhaxhiu ishte dekoruar me titullin "Mjeshtër i madh" për punën e tij rreth 70 vjeçare. Por tema me te cilin është marre gjerësisht Muzafer Xhaxhiu është ajo e origjinës se shqiptareve, me një sere studimesh për pellazget. Nga krijimtaria e tij mund te veçohen veprat "Letërsia antike" dhe "Letërsia Romake", qe për një kohe te gjate kane shërbyer edhe si literature për studentet e Fakultetit Histori-Filologji. Ne veprat letrare mund te përmenden lirikat e 57 dhe "Këngët e mjelmës" një botim i vitit 1999. Megjithatë, vete profesori do te veçonte si një nder veprat me te dashura atë qe kishte shkruar për Gjirokastrën, vendlindjen e tij. Ne një kronike te pak muajve me pare ne "Vizion Plus", profesor Xhaxhiu tregoi se pavarësisht moshës vazhdonte te punonte dhe krijonte.
