Një ditë pas publikimit të "Deklaratës së Pavarësisë" së serbëve të veriut të Kosovës, vjen reagimi i parë nga zyrtarët e lartë evropianë. Miroslav Lajçak, drejtor ekzekutiv për Evropën dhe Azinë Qendrore në Shërbimin Evropian të Punëve të Jashtme, deklaron se SHBA dhe BE duhet të flasin qartë:
"Nuk tolerohet ndarja e veriut të Kosovës. Nevojitet një qëndrim shumë i qartë dhe i fortë i Shteteve të Bashkuara dhe Bashkimit Evropian ku te theksohet se barrikadat dhe cilido element që shpie 'de fakto' drejt ndarjes së veriut të Kosovës, janë plotësisht të papranueshme dhe nuk do të tolerohen," u shpreh Lajçak. Duke komentuar dialogun mes Prishtinës e Beogradit, Lajçak tha për se duhet të forcohet dhe të përfshijë më shumë çështje politike. Por, sipas tij, vetë dialogu nuk është i mjaftueshëm për zgjidhjen e problemeve ne pikëkalimet kufitare në veri. Ndërkohë, një tjetër deklaratë e fortë vjen nga ministri i Brendshëm serb Ivica Daçiç. Sipas tij, Serbia nuk duhet të thotë kurrë se nuk do të luftojë për Kosovën. "Askush nuk mund të thotë se Kosovën e kemi humbur, pasi ajo është një pjesë jetësore e Serbisë. Ne e kemi humbur Kosovën dhe e kemi rimarrë disa herë përgjatë historisë," deklaroi ai. Daçiç sqaroi se çështja e Kosovës nuk ka qenë asnjëherë një nga kushtet e BE-së për integrimin.
A day after publication of the "Declaration of Independence" of the Serbs of Kosovo, the first reaction comes from top European officials. Miroslav Lajcak, executive director for Europe and Central Asia in the European Service of Foreign Affairs, declares that the U.S. and the EU should speak clearly:
"I do not tolerate the separation of northern Kosovo. Need a very clear stance and strong U.S. and European Union where barricades and note that any element that leads to 'de facto' division to the north of Kosovo, are completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated, "said Lajcak. Commenting on the dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade, Lajcak said to be strengthened and should include more political issues. But, according to him, dialogue itself is not sufficient to solve the problems in border crossings in the north. Meanwhile, another strong statement coming from the Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dacic. According to him, Serbia should not mean that there will never fight for Kosovo. "Nobody can say that we lost Kosovo because it is a vital part of Serbia. We have lost Kosovo and recover several times throughout history, "he said. Dacic explained that the Kosovo issue has never been a condition of EU integration.
