CHESTERFIELD, VIRGINIA — Three Virginia men were arrested on Sunday for allegedly trying to incite a race war.
According to court documents obtained by CBS affiliate WTVR, the FBI said the suspects, identified as Robert Doyle, Ronald Beasley Chaney and Charles Halderman, discussed acting on their white supremacist beliefs by shooting or bombing synagogues and black churches.
In addition, they planned to kill a gun store owner in Oklahoma and attack a Virginia gun store owner. They also planned to kill a local Virginia jeweller and rob an armored truck.
One of the suspects, Robert Doyle, allegedly tried to purchase automatic weapons, explosives and silencers from an undercover FBI agent.
The trio planned to use the proceeds from their crimes to “purchase land, stockpile weapons, and train for the coming race war,” NBC affiliate WWBT reported.
Each of the three suspects has so far been charged with one felony count.
