18-year-old Basel wunderkid Breel Embolo is one of the hottest striker in Europe at the moment, and last weekend in the Swiss Super League he showed he’s also an excellent role model too.
Basel slumped to a 3-2 home defeat to Grasshoppers, and in the final minutes of the match the hosts were throwing the kitchen sink at their opponents.
In one attack, Taulant Xhaka watched his fierce shot ricochet off the chest of Embolo, and the ball went behind and out of play.
The officials didn’t get a good look of the situation and so they awarded Basel a corner, but Embolo couldn’t sit idly by about that decision.
Despite the obvious negative impact to his team, Embolo approached the ref, told him it wasn’t a corner, and the official reversed the call.
One Grasshoppers player gave Embolo a kiss on the cheek for his selfless fair play.
