Health workers in both Honduras and Guatemala are on strike for higher pay, better working conditions, and improvements in their health care systems. In Honduras, the strike will likely be joined by other public sector workers. Since 2009 wages have been frozen even though prices have doubled. The government says it will boost salaries but workers will not call off the strike until an official document is signed. In Guatemala, workers' demands include punishing those involved in the corruption scandal that affected the country's health care system. Gerardo Torres reports from Tegucigalpa. teleSUR
