2015-11-07 6

Thomas Hanna lives on his former farmstead in a remote area of San Salvador. In this video he shows how he obtains fresh water, describes the use of Prickly Poppy for bush medicine, shows his grandfather's corn grinder (from the days of slavery), talks about his goats, and reflects on life in San Salvador. This is part of the oral histories research reported in our book, "Bush Medicine of the Bahamas,'" the result of a four-year research project.Portions of the audio may require a trained ear to understand; however, parts of the audio and video appear as transcripts in the book.
