Many are familiar with the crystal waters and high-rise hotels of Cancun, but few know that just a few miles from there, the native Mayan population lives in extreme poverty. Journalists who write about this are subject to imprisonment, beatings and worse. Today our host Laura Carlsen speaks with journalist and activist Pedro Canche, an outspoken victim of persecution in paradise. He himself spent nine months in jail on false charges of sabotage.
