This record was issued under a couple of pseudonyms and is also occasionally mistaken for a Harry Reser performance (one can easily see why, stylistically this is similar to Reser's Six Jumping Jacks). However, this is Al Lentz. Although a big seller in the 1920's, Lentz sadly is almost forgotten today. I had to search very long before finding just one photograph of him on the cover of vintage sheet music. Several of the rare sources still mentioning this musician, even misspell his surname! Nevertheless, fine instrumentalists moved through the Lentz orchestra, including violinist Mac Ceppos in the mid-'20s. This excellent record was made in 1927. Vocal by Al Lentz himself and a chorus of uncredited band members.
