NFL refused to bend rules for DeAngelo Williams to wear pink

The Evil Empire Strikes again.
Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams says he was told by the league he would not be permitted to wear pink throughout the season to honor his mother Sandra Hill.
Hill died of breast cancer last May.
The NFL cited uniform policy in their refusal to allow Williams to wear pink wristbands or shoes, according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.
The NFL participates in Breast Cancer Awareness month by permitting players and coaches to wear pink accessories during the month of October.
The NFL donates about eight percent of the revenue generated by sales of pink accessories to the American Cancer Society for research purposes.
Over 50 percent of the sales are given back to the retailer.
According to Fowler, Williams told ESPN’s Lisa Salters that breast cancer awareness is “not just about October” and he choses to honor victims, including his mother, year round.
