In the Summer of 2015, American boulderer Daniel Woods visited Varazze, Italy, home to the ground-breaking Christian Core problem 'Gioia'. This was the first boulder in the world to be offered the grade of V16 and while that grade is still far from confirmed, the problem having seen just two repeats, 'Gioia' is undoubtedly amongst the world's hardest climbs. Daniel's attempts on 'Gioia' were ultimately unsuccessful and indeed controversial after he and Dave Graham accidentally broke one of the problem's key holds, only to have it later glued back in place by Christian Core himself. In the resulting media storm, Daniel's impressive ticklist from the trip was somewhat overlooked, but this video includes many of his highlights from a repeat of 'Nem' (8B+/V14) to a near-miss flash attempt on 'Raptor' (8B/V13).
