Indian Congressmen Launch Fireworks Stuffed with Live Pigeons

Several Congress workers in the town of Kovvuru in southeastern India took election campaigning to a weird and controversial level. They took two live pigeons, stuffed one each into a paper capsule, attached them to a firecracker, and launched them off in front of a gathered crowd to greet the President of Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee Raghu Veera Reddy. The Congressmen and onlookers then watched the rockets fly up into the sky and explode. Apparently, they believed the pigeons would simply fly away unharmed after the rockets exploded and they deny the pigeons were harmed in the process, or any wrongdoing whatsoever.
