The book "Camila has Two Mothers" by Peruvian author Veronica Ferrari seeks to promote awareness and acceptance by children of sexual diversity within the family. LGBTI activists say Peru does not provide legal recognition or protection to families headed by same-sex couples. In 2015 a bill to recognize civil unions failed, but the mobilizations in favor of the measure were the largest ever held by the LGBTI community in the country's history.
