Woman convicted of husband's murder executed in Georgia despite Pope Francis plea

Atlanta, Sep 30 (EFE).- Authorities in the U.S. state of Georgia early Wednesday executed a woman sentenced to death for the murder of her husband 18 years ago, despite a last-minute petition for clemency and Pope Francis' request for a commutation of her death sentence.
