In Bolivia, pro-choice activists are calling on the government to decriminalize abortion. On September 28, a global day of action, women took to the streets in La Paz to demand that abortion be removed from the country's penal code. Bolivian law allows abortions only in case of rape or the mother's life being at risk. Every day 185 illegal abortions are performed in Bolivia, the second highest rate in Latin America. Activists say that illegal abortions are extremely dangerous and that women should not be obliged to seek high-risk solutions. Dimitri O'Donnell reports from La Paz. teleSUR
