Hacked Filter from a Computer fan powered by a USB port
I an unused Computer fan so I used it to make a simple basic Hacked Filter from a Computer fan that is powered by a USB port
The Computer fan is a 12 volt fan and a USB is 5 volts so I use a boost convertor to increase the voltage from the 5 volt USB to the 12 volts to drive the fan.
For filters I use Carbon Fibre Oven hood filters. These may cut to size using household scissors and washed and dried a number of times to cleaned of any collected, (filtered out partials).
These may be used quite a number of times before replacing.
This works quite well at catching some airborne particles.
I would not say it filters any smells or odours', etc...
The fan I used was an unused fan from a BitFenix Shinobi XL Tower computer case:-
BitFenix Spectre™ fans. 230mm diameter
The Boost convert:-

The carbon filters Carbon Fibre Oven hood filters, these come in a sheet that may be cut to size, with care you will most likely get two. ( I use a bigger and a smaller filter as a double filter), lots of filters to use:-

Cardboard Box to fit it all in
Rocker Switch, before the Boost Converter so when turned off no power is used by the Boost Converter

I added a HEPA filter from a vacuum cleaner to this with fans extra inside to blow out the back.
USB Cable and other cables, etc..
Hot Glue
Solder and soldering iron
Heat shrink tube where required
