Saudi Civil Defence authorities report at least 150 people have been killed and over 300 injured in a stampede outside Islam’s holiest city, Mecca.
The incident occurred during the Eid al-Adha (or Feast of Sacrifice) holiday.
Around three million Muslims are believed to be taking part in the Haj pilgrimage, ending at Mecca. Of those, 1.4 million are thought to be foreign nationals.
It’s the second deadly incident in the area in September. 107 people died when a crane crashed into the Grand Mosque.
The Saudi Civil Defence agency said severe rain contributed to the collapse of the crane.
