Expectations are running high in Colombia that the border crisis with Venezuela could be resolved at today's meeting between the presidents of the two countries. This would involve resolving the structural factors behind the crisis in relations, namely, the massive smuggling of subsidized Venezuelan goods into Colombia and paramilitary activity and drug trafficking operations in the affected areas.
